Пост 12. Countable vs. Uncountable
Countable vs. Uncountable Nouns: Know the Difference!
Hey there, English learners! Ready to crack the code of countable and uncountable nouns? It's easier than you think, and we'll make it fun!
Countable Nouns (You Can Count Them!)
These are things you can count one by one. They can be singular or plural.
✅ Examples:
a book → two books
an apple → three apples
a phone → many phones
✨ Rule: Use a/an for singular, and add -s/-es for plural!
Uncountable Nouns (You Can’t Count Them!)
These are things you can’t count individually—they’re like liquids, powders, or big concepts.
✅ Examples:
water (NOT "a water" or "two waters")
rice (NOT "a rice" or "three rices")
information ℹ️ (NOT "an information")
✨ Rule: Use them in singular form only (no -s!). Need to measure? Say "a glass of water" or "a bowl of rice."
Quick Quiz! (Countable or Uncountable?)
Music → (Uncountable! You can’t say "a music.")
Banana → (Countable! "A banana" or "five bananas.")
Money → (Tricky! It’s uncountable, but we say "dollars" or "coins" to count it.)
Comment your answers below!
Пост 13. like: differences of the meanings
What Do You Like vs. What Are You Like vs. What Do You Look Like?
Let’s Solve the Confusion!
Hey English learners! These three questions look similar but mean totally different things. Let’s break them down!
1️⃣ "What do you like?" = Your preferences ❤️
This asks about your favorite things (hobbies, food, music, etc.).
✅ Examples:
"What do you like to do on weekends?" → "I like playing video games!"
"What music do you like?" → "I like pop and rock!"
Remember: Answer with things you enjoy!
2️⃣ "What are you like?" = Your personality
This asks how you behave (are you funny? shy? kind?).
✅ Examples:
"What are you like at school?" → "I’m quiet but hardworking!"
"What’s your best friend like?" → "She’s very funny!"
Tip: Use adjectives (friendly, creative, serious).
3️⃣ "What do you look like?" = Your appearance
This is about your face, height, clothes, etc.
✅ Examples:
"What does your brother look like?" → "He’s tall with curly hair!"
"What do you look like today?" → "I’m wearing a blue hoodie!"
Remember: Describe physical features or clothing.
Quick Test! (Which question fits?)
"___?" → "I love pizza and anime!"
"___?" → "I have long hair and glasses."
"___?" → "I’m talkative and love jokes!"

Пост 14 «To» between two verbs
Let’s Learn About the Magic Word "TO"! ✨
Hey little English explorers! ???????? Today we’ll learn about a tiny but super important word – "TO" – that helps verbs be friends!
What Does "TO" Do?
When two verbs want to play together, we often use "TO" between them!
✅ Examples:
"I like to eat pizza!"
"She wants to play outside!"
"They love to sing songs!"
See the pattern?
Verb #1 (like/want/love) + TO + Verb #2 (eat/play/sing)
Let’s Play! Fill in "TO":
"I want ___ drink milk!"
"We like ___ draw pictures!"
"He loves ___ ride his bike!"
(Answers: 1. to, 2. to, 3. to)
⚠️ Watch Out!
Sometimes we don’t use "TO":
"Let’s go play!" (NOT "Let’s go to play!")
"Can I eat now?" (NOT "Can I to eat now?»)
Пост 15. Present Simple vs. Present Continuous
Present Simple vs. Present Continuous: Spot the Difference!
Hey English learners! Time to solve the verb tense mystery! ????️♂️ Let’s break down when to use each tense with real-life teen examples.
Present Simple (Facts & Routines)
Use this for:
✔️ Habits ("I check Instagram every morning.")
✔️ Facts ("She lives in Madrid.")
✔️ Permanent situations ("They speak French.")
Formula:
✅ I/You/We/They + verb ("We love memes.")
✅ He/She/It + verb + -s/-es ("He watches Netflix.")
⚡ Time Markers:
always, usually, every day, never
Present Continuous (Happening NOW!)
Use this for:
✔️ Right now ("I’m texting my friend.")
✔️ Temporary actions ("He’s studying for exams.")
✔️ Future plans ("We’re meeting at 6 PM.") ⏰
Formula:
✅ am/is/are + verb + -ing ("She’s listening to music.")
⚡ Time Markers:
now, at the moment, this week, today
Pro Tips:
❌ Never use -ing with: like, want, need, know (say "I want pizza" NOT "I’m wanting pizza")
✅ Annoying habits? Use always + -ing ("You’re always interrupting me!")

Пост 22 .Why do we say this way?
Why do we say this way?
Have you ever wondered how human speech works? Why are some words easy to remember, while others seem to slip past consciousness?
Our brain processes language in special patterns. Imagine: reading this text, your eyes first quickly run over the first words of the lines (as in a newspaper), and then go down, clinging to the key phrases.
That is why I have placed the most important thoughts at the beginning of paragraphs, where they will be noticed first. And additional explanations come after, creating a natural flow of information.
Research shows:
• 80% of readers scan the text without reading it in its entirety
• The eyes move in an F-shaped trajectory
• It is better to place key ideas at the beginning of the lines
Practical advice: if you want your text to be remembered:
Start paragraphs with the main thoughts.
Use short sentences.
Add visual anchors
The result: your text will be perceived 40% more effectively!
#linguistics #copywriting #psychology #text
P.S. This post is also based on the F-pattern. Reread it again and you will notice how easy it is to perceive information when it is presented correctly.

Пост 23.Noun in English
Hello friends! Today we will analyze nouns in English — one of the main parts of speech.
What is important to know?
1️⃣ Types of nouns:
Common (common): dog, city, happiness
Proper (proper): London, Mary, Coca-Cola (always with a capital letter!)
Countable (calculable): apple → apples
Uncountable (uncountable): water, advice (you can't add -s!)
2️⃣ Plural:
✔️Usually + -s: cat → cats
❗️But there are exceptions: child → children, tooth → teeth
3️⃣ Possessive case:
’s for people/animals: my sister's book
of for items: the door of the car
Пост 24. How our brain learns languages
How our brain learns languages: The amazing Linguistics of cognition!
Hello, language enthusiasts! Today we will look inside our brain to understand how it processes, remembers and reproduces foreign languages. It's not magic — it's neuro-linguistics!
3 stages of language processing in the brain
1️⃣ Perception
— Hearing: The temporal lobe (Wernicke's area) decodes sounds.
— Reading: The occipital lobe "photographs" words.
— Interestingly, the Japanese brain reacts differently to hieroglyphs (kanji) and syllabic alphabet (kanu)!
2️⃣ Memorization
- The hippocampus creates neural connections for new words.
— The amygdala adds emotional context ("that funny dialogue from the series" will be remembered better!).
3️⃣ Speaking
— Broca’s area turns thoughts into grammatically correct sentences.
— Fact: Even with mistakes, the brain automatically searches for patterns (hence the "false friends of the translator").
5 scientific life hacks for learning languages
✅ Sleep after the lesson — in a dream, the brain "sorts out" new information.
✅ Use gestures — the motor cortex enhances memorization.
✅ Listen to accents — the brain loves a variety of sounds.
✅ Learn words before going to bed/in the morning — there is no "information noise" during these hours.
✅ Speak out loud — even with mistakes! This trains the Broca's area.
❓Why is it easier for children?
Until the age of 7, the brain uses the same mechanisms for language as for the mother tongue. After this age, analytical thinking is activated (hence the fear of mistakes in adults).
Try to remember:
The first foreign word you have learned.
A phrase from a movie that was memorized effortlessly.
Why do you think they are "stuck" in memory? Share it in the comments!
Пост 25. Types of sentences in English
Types of sentences in English: from simple to complex
Friends, let's figure out how English sentences are constructed! Knowing their structure is the key to good speech and writing.
4 main types of sentences
1. Simple (Simple Sentence)
✔ One grammatical basis (subject + predicate)
✔ Expresses a complete thought
Example:
"The sun shines." (The sun is shining.)
2. Compound Sentence
✔ Two simple sentences joined by a conjunction (and, but, or, so, yet, for)
✔ A comma is placed between the parts before the conjunction.
Example:
"I wanted to go for a walk, but it started raining." (I wanted to go for a walk, but it started raining.)
3. Complex Sentence
✔ Main sentence + subordinate clause (with conjunctions because, if, when, although, that, etc.)
Example:
"She smiled when she saw me." (She smiled when she saw me.)
4. Complex with several types of connections (Compound-Complex Sentence)
✔ Combines complex and complex structures
Example:
"I finished my work, and I went home because I was tired."
(I finished work and went home because I was tired.)
Why is this important?
✅ Writing: The ability to build different types of sentences makes the text expressive.
✅ Speech: Helps you sound natural and coherent.
✅ Exams: A variety of structures are assessed in IELTS, TOEFL and other tests.
Practice
Determine the type of sentence:
"He opened the door and entered the room."
"After she finished her homework, she watched TV."
"I like coffee, but my friend prefers tea."
(Write answers in the comments!)
What type of sentences are the most difficult for you? Share it in the comments!
Пост 26. Electronic teacher
So, guys! The future has just come to our education.
Many professions have had a computer alternative, and now artificial intelligence will replace teachers! Attention to the website https://gliglish.com.
It's incredible, but a virtual teacher can:
✅ maintain dialogue in 38 foreign languages
✅ correct grammar and vocabulary errors (shows the difference between your version and the correct one)
✅ change the difficulty level to suit your needs
✅ just listen and comment on your speech
✅ translate phrases during the dialogue
Just like in a classroom! It will definitely suit you if
You would like to practice an oral foreign language
You don't know a foreign language, but you want to help your child learn it.
You are a teacher yourself and you want to add variety to your daily lessons
Advantages
✔️There is a free version
✔️User-friendly and intuitive interface
✔️Multi-language support
Disadvantages
➖There is no mobile app
➖There are time limits in the free version
And finally, an electronic teacher will never correct your mistakes with the dedication and creativity of the real Mrs. Smith! I think that's a disadvantage.???? Still, it's worth a try:)
Share in the comments how you like the new app.

Пост 27. Inversion in English
Inversion in English: how to turn a sentence upside down (and why it's necessary)!
Guys, today we will analyze inversion — a powerful tool that makes your speech emotional, literate and "native"!
What is it?
Inversion is a change in the standard word order (Subject + Verb) for:
✔ Drama enhancement
✔ Creating a formal tone
✔ Highlighting important information
Example:
Normal: "I have never seen such a beautiful sunset."
Inversion: "Never have I seen such a beautiful sunset!" (It sounds poetic and powerful!)
The 5 main cases of inversion
1. Negative adverbs at the beginning
→ Never, Rarely, Seldom, Hardly, No sooner…
✨ "Never will I forget this day!"
✨ "No sooner had she left than it started raining."
2. Conditional sentences (without "if")
→ "Were I you, I'd apologize." (instead of "If I were you")
→ "Had we known, we'd have helped."
3. "So/Such... that" for emotions
✨ "So beautiful was the painting that I couldn't look away."
✨ "Such is life!" (philosophically!)
4. Pronouns with "here/there"
✨ "Here comes the sun!" (spoiler: The Beatles knew a lot about inversion)
5. Direct order in questions (yes, this is also an inversion!)
"Do you like coffee?" (verb before the subject)
Practice
Try to redo it:
"I hardly ever eat fast food." → "Hardly ever ___ ___ fast food."
"If you had called me, I’d have answered." → "___ ___ called me, I’d have answered."
(The answers are in the comments! Let's check it out)
Have you noticed the inversion in movies or songs? Share examples! ????
Пост 28. Emphatic constructions
Emphatic constructions in English: how to add expressiveness to your speech!
Friends, do you want to sound convincing, emotional and native? Then you need emphatic constructions! Let's look at how they work.
What is emphase?
Emphase (stress, amplification) is a way to highlight a key thought in a sentence. There are special tools for this in English.:
5 main emphatic constructions
1. Do/Does/Did + verb
Enhancing the action in Present/Past Simple:
"I do love chocolate!" (Not just love, but adore!)
"She did call you yesterday!" (Don't you believe it?!)
2. It is/was… who/that… (Cleft Sentences)
We highlight an important part
of the sentence: "It was John who broke the vase!" (It's John, not anyone else!)
✨ "It's confidence that really matters." (Confidence is what matters!)
3. What… is/was…
The emphasis is on the whole phrase:
"What I need is a good sleep."
4. Negative Inversion
For dramatic effect:
"Never have I seen such a mess!" (I'm just shocked!)
5. Intensifiers
Words really, absolutely, utterly:
"This is absolutely amazing!"
, When to use it?
✔ In arguments: "I do know what I'm talking about!"
✔ In storytelling: "It was then that I realized the truth..."
✔ In compliments: "You really are the best!"
But be careful:
— In formal documents, the emphase may look out of place.
— Don't overload your speech — use it carefully!
Practice
Rephrase with an emphase:
"I want coffee." → "What ___ ___ is coffee!"
"She finished the project on time." → "She ______ the project on time!"
