Questions in Indirect (Reported) Speech

В общих вопросах нет необходимости пользоваться вопросительной формой — ведь в данной ситации нет необходимости отвечать — это лишь передача чужих слов. Вместо этого свяжи придаточную часть с главной словами if или whether. Соответственно и вопросительный знак не потребуется в конце таких предложений.

My brother asked me, “Are you cold?”  My brother asked me if I was cold.

My sister asked me, “Can you help me?”  My sister asked me if I could help her.

Mr. Green asked his son, “Do you want to play a new game?” Mr. Green asked his son whether he wanted to play a new game.

Mrs. White asked her daughter, “Do you like the breakfast?” Mrs. White asked her daughter if she liked the breakfast. 

My friends asked me, “Have you bought a new computer?” My friends asked me whether I had bought a new computer.

Special Questions

Если вопрос специальный, то даже if и whether не потребуются — просто начни придаточную часть с подходящего вопроса,  дальше пользуйся обычным — не вопросительным порядком слов. 

Nick asked me, “Where are you?” Nick asked me where I was.

The teacher asked me, “When did you start reading the book?” My teacher asked me when I started reading a new book. 

My friends asked me, “Why did you choose this telephone?” My friends asked me why I had chosen that telephone.

Our grandparents asked us, “How did you manage to repair your car yourselves?” Our Grandparents asked us how we had managed to repair our car ourselves.
